Raw Food Recipes for Spring

[ 0 ] March 23, 2013 |

Spring makes one think of the color green as plants and produce awaken from their winter slumber. It’s a time to lighten up on both flavors and textures — but not on nutrition. This time of year it’s great to think about eating lots of cleansing foods that still satisfy and satiate.

Drinks: Start every morning with a great fresh Gum’s Green Smoothie. It’s important to get lots of nutrients into your system first thing in the morning. Liquids are easy on the digestive system, and when you can get your first does of green before 8am, you can’t lose.

Starters: Incorporating more salads is key, which is why our Grapefruit Avocado Salad makes the most of the first lettuce greens and the sweet but tangy flavor of citrus. Fennel adds an extra layer of complexity, as well as a hearty kick of vitamin C.

Soups: One way to lighten up for spring is to make more liquids as your meal. You’re still getting all the nutrients you need while being easy on the digestive system. Try our Garden Blend Soup for lunch, dinner, or anytime.
